Another incredible day with my old friend Captain Valente Lucero. This fish was estimated at 75-80 pounds. It doesn’t take hours to land a rooster if you put significant constant pressure on them. Twenty pound class tippet and a 10 weight rod is a perfect combo and even one this large can be released within 30 minutes without a long revival session. Thanks for a another great day amigo!

A lucky day with my talented captain Efren yesterday. To land a rooster like this requires teamwork, boating skills and intuitive understanding that he brings with him. It’s all about challenges and fun. The comraderie just cements the memories of these wonderful days in the richest fishery in the world.
